FAQ

I just got a laptop to complement my desktop and I was wondering if there was any painless way to transfer all my AcidSearch search engines from the latter to the former (obviating the need to set them by hand).

Click the "Export Channels" button in the AcidSearch preferences (Select "Edit Search Channels" or "AcidSearch Preferences" from the search field menu) to save the channels into a file. Copy this file to your new computer via email or a flash drive. Then, on the new computer, select "Import Channels" from the prefs and import the file.

When I launched Safari while not being connected to the net, a pop-up window came out and said: "There was an error loading the search channel repository." Is this normal?

Yes, the message was completely normal. AcidSearch was trying to download the search channel repository, which, due to a bug in 0.62, it tries to get when you first open Safari. So, since you weren't connected to the internet, it couldn't get the repository and gave the error. Nothing to worry about.

Email

Due to the massive volumes of email received, I'm no longer able to offer email support. I truly apologize for this; I really did like being able to personally help my users. However, I tried my best and just can't keep up with the flood of mail anymore. If you want to contact me, you are welcome to do so through this form (select "Feedback" from the Subject popup menu). I won't guarantee a response, but your message will be read, and if it's a bug report or feature request, will get added to my log.
