Griffin Technology's Questionable Logic
Griffin Technology has released a contender for the Most Pointless Device Ever award, the iBeam. Just plug either the flashlight or laser module into the headphone jack(?) of your iPod(??) to turn it into the world's most expensive battery pack. The reason this seems particularly inane to me is the fact that the device plugs into the headphone port, making the iPod useless for playing music. If the unit plugged into the dock connector, it'd at least allow the iPod to do what it was originally intended to do...
I don't get it.
Don't get me wrong, I love Griffin—they've been great supporters of our fabulous platform for a while now, and make some of the classiest non-Apple hardware around—the iBeam just seems relatively bizarre. It sells for $19.95 if you want one.
In other news, I inadvertently uploaded an outdated file onto the site earlier. If you couldn't see the news page recently, that's why. It should be fixed now. I also have a new full-text RSS 2.0 feed for my nonexistent RSS subscribers here.
