AcidSearch 0.61

My release notes for 0.61 are brief. Please note: This is an interim release, until all the bugs can be fixed for 0.7. The main fix here is for Safari 2.0.2 (OS X 10.4.3). There are several requests many of you have made with me that didn't make it into this release. Also, I have not contacted the localizers for updated translations yet. More on that soon.

UPDATE: AcidSearch 0.61 is available in Japanese, traditional Chinese, and Italian. Thanks guys!

UPDATE 2: AcidSearch 0.61 is now available in French as well.

Comments

I just enabled channel images for the first time, gave my permission to download them, and ended up with only little blue globe icons for all of the channels. I tried to get individual channels to download images by pressing the "download" button for them, but nothing changed. Tried restarting Safari, too. Am I doing something wrong?

I am using OS X 10.3.9.

Very happy with the program. Nice work!

I am also having the problem with the channel images. After a while I did get a9.com to show up so maybe it just take a while for everything to work? Great program!

previous versions of AcidSearch have worked fine, but I'm also having the problems that the previous two comments posted about. Favicons are failing to show up when enabled. Also, there seems to be a major error somewhere within the program that is causing Safari to randomly crash. Upon reopening Safari, a file called "repository.html" is showing in my history stating the following:

"Welcome to the Search Channel Repository!
The search channel repository is a community where you can share channels you have created with others. To add a channel to your own Search Channel list, simply drag the channel from the repository into your own Search Channels list.
© 2005 Robin Hamilton-Pennell."

I'm running Safari 1.3.1 on OS X 10.3.9 on a dual 2gHz G5.

Love the new window look and layout! I can't wait to see what 0.7 has... I don't use the favicon feature so I can't relate to the above stated issues.

I do know that SIMBL got broke in the 10.4.3 update; the developer said an update will be available soon.

I am finding periodic outputs like this in my console log. I think they are coming from a part of AcidSearch because of the mention of "pozytron". Thought you would want to know:

2005-11-11 19:42:51.228 Console[18911] The plugin /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/PlaintextPaste.bundle (com.pozytron.PlaintextPaste) is using a deprecated interface to SIMBL. Please contact the appropriate developer (not the SIMBL author) and refer them to http://culater.net/wiki/moin.cgi/CocoaReverseEngineering

Hello Tim,

This is because you have an older version of PlaintextPaste installed. You can download the newest version here: http://www.pozytron.com/plaintextpaste/. Or, if you prefer, a newer installer can uninstall an old version--just run it and click "Uninstall" instead of "Install." Bear in mind that the uninstall is dependent on the radio buttons (i.e. if You have "Install for this user only" selected, the uninstall button will uninstall for this user only).

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me by email.

Cheers,
Robin

If would be cool if you could find a way to alphabetize the search channels!
