Miscellany

No comment on the following URL:
http://www.acidsearch.net/

I will be releasing updates soon, now that I have more time on my hands. There will be another minor release of AcidSearch (0.62). I had wanted to get 0.7 done before releasing, but this fixes a rather glaring bug in AcidSearch 0.61--the loss of channel image downloading.

Also, I've had problems with my email lately, so if you haven't received a response, please resend your message (but be gentle).

Nearly 2 months now... what's going on? One of the best additions to Safari die?

Hi TJ,

Glad you're so faithful to the cause. It has been a long time, and it's just one of those things. In fact, I'm completely rewriting entire sections of AS from scratch. I think, in fact, I will post a blog entry shortly with more details on why it's been taking so long. But have no fear: AcidSearch is not dead.

I will likely skip the .62 I was talking about as it's hard to justify trying to patch the old code when I'm writing new stuff at the same time. And I'm pretty sure 0.7 will be worth it (if that's what I choose to call it--I think I'm moving to a 1.0 pretty soon as I'm sick of the 0.x versions). However, to justify doing a version 1.0, and effectively taking AcidSearch out of beta, I will need to do some pretty intense core changes to get rid of the many bugs that plague the older version.

There's more to it than that, of course.

Cheers,
Robin

Keep up the good work! I look forward to the universal binary!

Any news yet on an update? I finally had to stop using AcidSearch, as it was causing Safari to crash so often. I miss it, to say the least. (This has almost caused me to switch over to OmniWeb, but there's too much about it that annoys me, too.)
